The Borders Distillery, Hawick
The Borders Distillery is the first Scotch Whisky distillery to open in the region since 1837. Situated on the banks of the River Teviot in an award-winning conversion of the former Victorian electrical works, the distillery is open to tour, taste and explore.Take the fascinating tour and learn how the distillery makes Single Malt Scotch Whisky, William Kerr’s Borders Gin, and Puffing Billy Steam Vodka. You’ll be guided round by the people who make the spirit, finished off with a tasting experience in The Tait Gallery Bar. Photography and video are allowed throughout the tour. There is also an excellent shop with a selected range of spirits, local produce, and gifts.Tours must be booked at least a day in advance, by phone on 01450 374 330. They are £20 per person and last 45 minutes. Tours run at 11h00, 13h00, 15h00 - Monday to Friday from March to October.
The Three Hill’s Coffee Company, Selkirk
Three Hills are coffee roasters who run their own shop in Selkirk, the coffee on offer changes every few days to keep things interesting but it will always be freshly roasted and immaculately prepared. Decaf drinkers are in for a great surprise too.If you are hungry, they have a range of quality, locally sourced food including their famous sourdough French toast. There is also a regularly changing rotation of cakes, flapjacks, and scones for those with a sweet tooth.
The Three Hill’s entire range of coffee is available to buy to take home, in beans or ground for the way you make your coffee and guaranteed to be freshly roasted.
Open Tuesday to Friday 9 to 4 and 9.30 to 4 on Saturdays.
Cameron’s Oven Fresh Bakery, Selkirk
A real Selkirk institution, ‘Cameron’s’ on the High Street has been around for over 70 years, long enough to be part of most folk’s memories!
Now the only baker to produce the Selkirk Bannock in the town of its origin, Cameron’s bake between around 300 Selkirk Bannocks a week.
However, Cameron’s is not just about the Bannock. Their products range from their famous and delicious bread rolls, a huge range of homemade pies and sausage rolls as well as their meringues and fresh cream cakes - Strawberry Tarts, Chocolate Eclairs are worth a mention.
Follow the queue and get there early for ‘Cameron’s rolls’, especially on a Saturday.
Tempest Brewing Co., Tweedbank
Tempest Brewing Co. is a micro-brewery which is nestled in the heart of Tweedbank, it has a bottle-shop selling beer and merchandise as well as a taproom hosting weekly sessions every Saturday. Tempest Brewing Co. have been making fresh, creative beer designed and built on the banks of the Tweed in the Scottish Borders since 2010.
Through their passion and dedication to high quality, the team have earned a reputation and awards galore for creating fresh, flavour-led beer.
Their beers run the gamut from crushable lagers and sours to hoppy IPAs and big barrel-aged brews.
Cocoa Black, Peebles
Cocoa Black in Peebles is a must-visit stop-off for international chefs, celebrities, royals and chocolate lovers from around the world, attracted to the gorgeous creations of UK World Chocolate Master Ruth Hinks.
Chocolate Master Ruth Hinks brings a slice of chocolate heaven in the modern and delightful Cocoa Black Boutique in Peebles. Selling high quality gateaux, tarts and chocolate indulgence of all kinds including a great choice of hot chocolate flavours. The Chocolate & Pastry School was opened in 2016. Workshops and masterclasses with Ruth and visiting guest chefs for beginners to more experienced bakers wanting to learn new techniques using chocolate and pastry run throughout the year and are very popular.
Wilson’s Farm and Kitchen
Based at Cowbog Farm near Kelso, Wilson’s Farm and Kitchen is run by Cook, Lucy Wilson and Farmer, Robert Wilson. They are the third generation of the family to farm Cowbog.Cowbog is a busy working family farm with approximately 250 head of predominantly Hereford cattle, arable crops and a host of conservation features. Cowbog is well known for the production of high-quality, native breed, Scotch Beef.
Seasonal food with provenance is the philosophy at Wilson's Farm and Kitchen and ingredients are sourced locally whenever possible, to create delicious menus. The Farmhouse’s original Kitchen Garden and Orchard supplies much of the fruit and vegetables used for events. Meat is selected very judiciously, only using homegrown Scotch Hereford Beef and Herdwick Lamb or meat from other local farms who share to same commitment to high welfare, grass-based farming.Set date events are available to book online for smaller groups or larger groups can book private events. Choose from Field to Fork Tours, Tractor and Trailer Tours, Breakfast Safaris, The 25 Mile Feast, The 25 Mile Roast Lunch or a day out and lunch in the Delightful 'Wee Bothies'. Sheep Dog Demonstrations and Cookery Demonstrations can be arranged.
The Naked Sourdough, Kelso

Jarvis Pickle, Eyemouth
Jarvis Pickle manufacture award winning pies in Eyemouth, you can buy them there at the Food Store along with many other local and speciality products. There is something for everyone from organic meats to vegan goods and a wide range of gluten free products.Good food from the Scottish Borders, these pies are very tasty – traditional meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan filled pastry pockets.
We have won 46 British Pie Awards in just five years. Including Champion Fish Class with our Cullen Skink Pie, Best Meat Pie Scotland with our Pork and Blue Cheese Pie, Champion Vegetarian Class with our Spinach, Goat Cheese and Sweet Potato Pie and Champion Steak and Kidney 2020 with our Steak and Kidney Pie.
You can find these delicious pies in shops and restaurants throughout the UK, including Fortnum & Mason of Piccadilly, Gleneagles, Booths, Tebay and Fenwick’s. And of course, here in Eyemouth where they are made. Or Pies by Post if you prefer!
Hogarth’s, Kelso
John Hogarth of Kelso produce finest Scottish oatmeal and pearl barley.
They have been millers of the finest Scottish oatmeal for over 100 years. Based in Kelso and producing a range of distinctly flavoured oat products. The Scottish Borders climate and soil type is ideal for growing crops. Field to plate, fresh from the mill – buy a taste of Scotland.
Whilst they are predominantly wholesale, they do sell 5kg and 25kg bags to the general public, butchers and accommodation providers direct from the mill or by mail order via the website.
You can order online and click and collect from the Kelso mill.
Hardiesmill Charcuterie and Tombuie Smokehouse, Gordon
Hardiesmill Charcuterie, such as their traditional Pastrami and Sweet-Cured Beef, are made by their sister company, Tombuie Smokehouse. Tombuie is also based on the farm. They also make Beef Haggis, in a traditional way, with hand -made handties, and using natural skins. It is available to buy from the Pop-Up Shop and usually at Kelso Farmers Market.
Only open three days a week and set next to the butchery, the shop is small, but quality counts, making it a foodie’s heaven!
The Pop-up Shop is open Thursdays and Fridays 10am to 6pm and Saturdays 9.30am till 3pm. Kelso Farmers' Market (4th Saturday of every month)
Over Langshaw Farm, Galashiels
This delicious luxury ice cream is made at Over Langshaw Farm in the heart of the Borders. Thanks to the lovely cows and cheerful chooks – the team are able to use their own farm fresh milk, cream and eggs. Making this ice cream uniquely creamy, smooth and extra delicious.
There are a huge range of flavours including refreshing sorbets and lots of boozy ones for you to try! Over Langshaw aim to use seasonal produce and flavours are often inspired by the fruits and berries growing around us. They use only natural flavouring and nothing artificial.
Ther ice cream is made sustainably using wind power from 'Winifred' their turbine at the top of the hill!
Laprig Apple Juice, Near Denholm
Based on an organic and Wildlife Estate Scotland accredited farm.
This is a family run, sustainable, apple pressing business, firmly rooted in the local community and traditional way of life. As a family business, sustainability is at their heart. They grow their own apples and buy from local community orchards and private family orchards in the south of Scotland and northern England. They also take apples that are too big, small, or wonky for supermarkets and press them into their distinctive single variety juices, made 100% from hand pressed apples, with zero added sugar! The authentic taste of traditional orchards is a healthy alternative to fizzy drinks.
Everything they do passes through their hands in small batches, ensuring quality in all products.
